Frequently asked questions

Is my data secure?

Absolutely. All credentials are encrypted with AES-256 at rest. Passwords are hashed with Argon2id. We support multi-factor authentication and maintain full audit trails. Your file data is streamed directly between platforms and is never stored on our servers after the migration completes.

How long does a migration take?

It depends on the volume of data and the APIs involved. Typical throughput is 1–5 GB per hour per concurrent transfer. Larger migrations can run multiple jobs in parallel. You can also schedule migrations for off-peak hours to minimize impact on your users.

Can I migrate between the same platform?

Yes. MigrationFox supports same-platform migrations — SharePoint to SharePoint, Google Drive to Google Drive, and so on. This is useful for tenant consolidations, reorganizations, or moving data between personal and shared drives.

Do you support on-premises file servers?

Yes. We provide a lightweight Windows agent that connects to SMB/CIFS file shares on your local network. The agent securely streams data to your chosen cloud destination without opening inbound firewall ports.

What happens if a migration fails?

Failed files are automatically retried with exponential backoff. If a job is interrupted, you can resume it from exactly where it left off — no need to re-transfer files that already completed. You'll receive email notifications for any persistent failures along with a detailed error report.

Can I migrate Microsoft Teams channels?

Yes. MigrationFox supports full Teams-to-Teams migration including channels, messages with original timestamps, thread replies, and channel files. Destination teams are auto-created if they don't already exist.

Can I migrate SharePoint lists and metadata?

Yes. Our SharePoint site migration copies document libraries with files, lists with items and columns, and lets you select exactly what to migrate. Metadata and column definitions are preserved in the destination.
