What we scan
For each of the top 30 most-active SharePoint sites, we count Anyone-links by view-vs-edit ratio and flag any links that have been active for more than 12 months. The sites the assessment covers represent ~80% of activity on most tenants.
SharePoint admin tenant settings — sharing capability (Anyone vs New and existing guests vs Existing guests vs Only people in your organization), domain restrictions, default link type, link expiration policies.
Per-user OneDrive provisioning and active-storage signals via getOneDriveUsageAccountDetail. Catches the "users have OneDrive licenses but no actual content in OneDrive" gap that breaks Known Folder Move rollouts.
Pulls Purview sensitivity labels via the Information Protection Graph endpoint to give you visibility into how much of your tenant's content has any classification at all — the precondition for any Copilot prompt-time content filtering.
Why it matters
The Concentric AI 2025 Data Risk Report found that the average organization has 802,000 files at risk from oversharing, and 16% of business-critical data is overshared on the typical tenant. We've scanned tenants with 12,000+ active Anyone-links on the top 30 sites alone. None of those links was tracked. None had been expired. Most were created years ago for one-off file shares with vendors who left the partnership long ago.
Anyone-links are the oversharing surface that Copilot is about to index aggressively. Every one of those links is a file Copilot can summarize on demand into a chat response — including to a user who would never have been able to find that file otherwise. The SharePoint and OneDrive Assessment is the deep-dive into that surface so you can clean it up before Copilot turns it into a leak.
You get a per-site breakdown ranked by oversharing risk, the count of Anyone-links broken down by edit-vs-view permission, age distribution (links over 12 months are higher risk), and the tenant-wide external sharing capability setting that determines whether new links can be created at all. The remediation list is sorted so the worst offenders show up first — your SharePoint admin can triage instead of trying to boil the ocean.
